Pine Street/4th Avenue Area Storm Reconstruction

Anchorage, Alaska

Project Update April 11th, 2012

Home

Phase 1 construction along PIne Street between Debarr Road and 6th Avenue was completed last summer.  The 2012 summer construction season for Phase 2 is just around the corner.

Preparation work (locating utilities, temporary mailbox relocates, etc.) will begin about May 10th.  Construction will start at intersection of 4th and Bunnell and continue east down 4th.  When 4th is complete, work will occur on 6th, Mellow, 5th, and Bunnell.

The goal of this project is to reconstruct the storm drain system along Pine Street and 4th Avenue between Debarr Road and Boniface Parkway.  The project has been identified as a priority by the Russian Jack Community Council to address local flooding concerns.

The project will also provide traffic calming and pedestrian improvements along 4th Avenue.  These improvements will include a 5-foot wide sidewalk on the south side and a 7 foot wide sidewalk on the north side to better serve Wonder Park Elementary School.

AWWU also evaluated the condition of the water and sewer mains along the alignment. Necessary repairs have been coordinated with the storm drain project to minimize construction impacts and cost.
